DotA All-Stars on iCCup

18 Oct 2009 @ 02:52 CET

DotA All-Stars is a game that has captivated many devout followers ever since the first incarnation was played on Battle.net, with its mixed RPG and RTS heritage the deceptively deep game has kept the WarCraft III chatrooms alive. Despite spawning a multitude of copies, DotA All-Stars remains a strong presence in the online communities and even supports its own top tier teams. Now, iCCup has taken on its own Dota All-Stars ladder as an alternative to the delay-crippled battle.net and the slot-restricted garena.

By combining the atmosphere and function of the battle.net style chatrooms and clan support with the low-latency (50-100ms as compared to 250ms) advantages DotA on iCCup can become a mainstay of the DotA community. How was this achieved? Through host bots for each game. Not only that but iCCup provides you with all the usual features inspired over the many seasons of supporting StarCraft statistics, with your win-loss record, hero information and statistics, kills, assists, and more available on demand!

All of this of course is featured on the ranking system, an iCCup DotA Ladder on which you can see how you compare with your peers in the familiar setting of iCCup. Also featured is the AntiHack, providing additional ladder points for its use and discouraging unfair play by preventing hacks. The full complement of staff will also be providing you with news, helping out with problems, and constantly improving the server and your DotA experience on iCCup.

We are pleased to announce the DotA All-Stars Beta season, and we are looking forward to feedback from all users. To start your ganking, follow the steps below!

You must use the host bot for the game to be counted on the ladder, so please read these notes on the use of the bot. To create a game use the /host «Game Name» command and enter the game no later than 2 minutes after creation or it will disappear. The game creator should be first in the game and the latency set (default is 100, but 50 can be achieved when all players have good connections though it can always return to 100 if you encounter problems). Non-ladder games are allowed but will not contribute to your rank. See the full list of commands below.

It's nice, but so far it's rather laggy for me. The fact that I also can't read what all the russians are saying makes USEast a better place for DotA for me at the moment :/.

I'll also throw out there that about half of the players at D level are incapable of playing the game. Absolutely incapable of anything.

Definitely see potential in this, definitely.

Grab some North American and Asian hostbots and this league will skyrocket.

Does this work with bootlegged Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne ? (This is only for my friend. I have the legit game)

sidenote: The games don't appear to be the map that I downloaded from www.getdota.com. Is this a problem?
