The new league run by GOMTV themselves has begun. This league now known as the Averatec-Intel Classic 2008 Season 1, was the product of a test run called the GomTV Star Invitational that produced an unexpectedly huge amount of viewers.

This league unlike the others has no preliminary stages and every match is considered to be in a knockout fashion. Prior to the start of the league a contest was run where the top 4 Starcraft players played in a tournament where the winner took home about $10,000 USD. This title was easily taken by Flash when he beat Mind in the finals 3-1 after losing the very first game.

The beginning of the first season of the Averatec-Intel Classic 2008 official began on April 13, 2008 and today only 64 remain. You can see the list by clicking on the thumbnail below.
