As the first battle cries were heard, as the first gg’s were typed, as the first victories were won, yesterday marked the official start of iCCup’s newest event, Nation Wars. The preparation stages are finally over as we progress into the ladder and qualifier stages of Nation Wars, where teams compete against each other for a spot in the top 8 who will enter the Nation War Playoffs at the end of the season. Currently we have an impressive 14 teams competing in this event, with the involvement of over 20 nations in total and perhaps even more to come in the event’s later stages. Participants of our opening matches included the Nordic, Peruvian, Spanish, Romanian, Brazilian, Italian and Polish teams as they duked out against each other on the battlefield. Without further ado, let’s explore the results of our 3 opening matches!
Romania vs Spain+Italy
Our Romanian leader, Flaf, went head to head with Spanish conquistador Zaraki in our first of the 3 opening matches of Nation Wars. Our server’s notable Spanish zerg, Eonzerg, grabbed a decisive 2-0 victory over Romania’s Gecko securing the first point for Spain. However, things started to roll downhill as Spain lost the next 2 sets; Zaraki 0-2 to pam_pam and 2v2 Penguin/ellabaila 0-2 to Soko/Sadbabat. With a potential victory at hand, Flaf, the leader himself stepped up to battle against Italy’s Alfiomerda, who pledged his loyalty to the Spanish efforts. As the dust finally settles following game 3, Flaf took down Alfio in a 2-1 victory, contributing to Romania’s first Nation War domination.
Poland vs Peru
Europe’s prominent nation, Poland, led by Trutacz challenged South America’s Peruvian team lead by TerrOr to a 5-set duel. The first set involved a recent A/B tour champion, Sneazel, against Peru’s Bishop. Despite falling behind 0-1, Sneazel managed to pull back the next 2 sets securing the first point for Poland. Poland’s leader Trutacz stepped onto the battlefield against Zety in a ZvZ, and won 2-0 in a decisive fashion with superior mutalisk micro and defense. Unfortunately Poland’s 2v2 team did not show up in time, and in doing so gives an automatic walkover to Peruvian’s 2v2 Lib/Artez. In our 4th set, MadCabbage took down Darkinn in another 2-0 victory, winning the CW for Poland.
Nordic vs Brazil
The Nordic team, which includes countries Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland, went against South America’s Brazilian Team. Norwegian player MaD crushed PegazuS in a decisive 2-0 victory featuring an exciting proxy factory play TvP. Both Ruskig and Nordic’s 2v2 team, Pirlo/Dog managed to take the final set against fOca and kW/Smoke respectively after the series ended 1-1. As if the Nordic’s victory wasn’t satisfactory enough, the team’s leader OyA himself stepped onto the frontlines against Brazil’s CaPrI in hoping for an all-kill. OyA, not even giving a chance for a third game, ended the Bo3 in 2 sets, securing Nordic Team’s and Nation War’s first all-kill of the season! The Nordic team is looking scary, ladies and gentlemen, watch out!
The following standings only include the teams that have already played a war. Do not fear if your country doesn't show yet. The standing will be updated next week!

Yesterday's matches have been casted by oxyacety, Don_Julio, iCCup.Astus and iCCup.bitTman. It was quite spontenously, as we're low on TV Admins. Many thanks for the two motivated Germans to help us out here! If you missed the casts, make sure to check the VODs.
For next week we'll try to inform you a lot earlier and try to implement overlays. Watch out for news & updates!
